Doklam standoff

India under Narendra Modi government has shown a lot of confidence and might in the Region and and upheld its rightful position in the Region.
Its matter of great pride to watch India holding its ground in the face of aggression from China.
India under the previous governments have always adopted a soft policy against China and all its views were treated as better left unanswered that causing trouble .
For a nation that has equal importance in the sub continent this was undermining India's possibility of playing a larger role of being a strong ally to Bhutan, Nepal or Mauritius endangering our influence in the Indian Ocean region at large .
At a time when India is actually shining as an economic success story with the best GDP growth rates and holding mightier economic stature and geographical significance in the World , it is an apt position to hold and a deligient reply to aggression on its borders.
India had build its nuclear programme from 1962 to provide a strong detterence against China after we lost a war agianst it in the 1960's.
This move has cost the India dearly as when India became a nuclear state and faced sanctions for two decades which prevented the globalisation initiative taking off in the 1980s.
If India was able to open up its economy by the 1980s when Rajiv Gandhi wanted it ,we could have overtaken China on the economic front .
Remember that China Globalised it economy in 1978 almost 12 yrs later we did it in 1990 ,the results were amazing India grew from a 200 million dollar economy to a 2 trillion dollar economy .India was able to lift almost 400 million people to middle class status.
So what if we had done it in 1980's when the idea got introduced ?
If the Modi government had chosen to be silent like the previous government it would have wasted our 3 decade old effort to provide strong deterrence to Chinese aggression and all the economic losses we endured to become a nuclear state.
The strong foreign policy and Indian assuming a larger role in the region again are welcome steps from the current government ! Jai Hind !
